The Nikon NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S has a normal-length field of vision and a brilliant f/1.8 maximum aperture. The comfortable viewpoint, along with the f/1.8 design, makes it ideal for working in low-light situations and provides greater control over depth of field. Two aspherical elements and two extra-low dispersion elements are used in the optical design, which considerably reduces spherical and chromatic aberrations for improved sharpness and clarity. Nano Crystal and Super Integrated Coatings are also utilized to reduce flare and ghosting for improved color integrity and contrast. A stepping motor delivers rapid, quiet, and precise autofocus performance, as well as full-time manual focus override for both stills and video applications.

This system’s stepping motors provide astonishingly quiet and smooth focusing performance that is suited for both picture and video applications. To keep the overall length of the Nikon NIKKOR Z 50mm lens constant when focusing and to encourage quicker focusing rates, an internal focusing design is used, in which only the internal lens groups are changed during focusing. Manual focus override is also available full-time.
