The fifth-generation a7R is dependable and well-rounded for both photography and video applications, with a 61MP full-frame sensor, all-new AI-based autofocus system with improved subject identification, 8K video recording, and 8-stop image stabilization.
61MP Full-Frame CMOS Sensor
This Sony a7R V comes with full-frame 61MP Exmor R CMOS sensor with a back-illuminated architecture provides amazing resolution with great clarity, low noise, and a wide 15-stop dynamic range. The shape of the sensor supports exceptional picture quality, and a copper wire layer substantially boosts data transfer speed for capturing 14-bit, high-resolution 61MP stills with a base sensitivity range of ISO 100-32000, which can be increased to ISO 50-102400.
Improved Processing Engine
A new BIONZ XR processing engine of Sony a7R V mirrorless camera outperforms previous generations by up to 8x, enabling faster overall performance, impressive image quality with wide sensitivity and dynamic ranges, and more fluent processing capable of handling a slew of AI tasks and intelligent AF alongside imaging processes. For clear representation of moving subjects, this processing approach also minimizes rolling shutter and other motion aberrations.
Updated 5-Axis Image Stabilization
The in-body image stabilization mechanism has been upgraded for the a7R V to offer up to 8 stops of camera shake correction. This 5-axis stabilization technology combines a high-performance gyro sensor with an enhanced algorithm for better shaking control and communication between the camera body and lens. Additionally, there is an Active IS option for video that adds even more accurate stabilization technologies for even smoother footage right out of the camera.
Pixel Shift Multi Shooting
This one-of-a-kind compositing method of a7R V enables you to attain even higher resolution than the 61MP sensor permits. This mode, when combined with sensor-shift image stabilization, shifts the sensor while taking 16 consecutive exposures to acquire approximately 240.8MP of information for greater color accuracy and detail than a single exposure, as well as an impressive image size of 19,008 x 12,672-pixels. The Sony Imaging software package may then be used to blend these files together during post-production.
Recording Flexibility
The a7R V uses two codecs to accommodate diverse workflows: XAVC HS, which uses HEVC/H.265 encoding to retain greater information at lower bitrates, and XAVC S-I, an intraframe codec for consistent performance and quality at higher bitrates. High-speed, 120 fps recording in Full HD enables 4x and 5x slow-motion movie recording with frame rate playback set to 30p or 24p.The camera’s physical architecture incorporates a better heat-dissipating structure to support longer possible recording intervals, and there is no recording time restriction, allowing for infinite clip lengths.
Advanced Fast Hybrid AF
A Fast Hybrid AF system of a7R V features a dense 693 phase-detection point grid for rapid and precise focusing in a variety of lighting settings with sensitivity down to -4 EV, covering 79% of the full-frame picture area or 100% of the APS-C cropped area. This focusing method is used in all recording modes, making it useful for both video and stills applications.
Versatile and Durable Design
Dual memory card slots support CFexpress Type A and SD memory cards. The dual slot architecture enables versatile file storing and processing, and it may be customized to divide file types or to record overflow data. Furthermore, both card slots are UHS-II memory card compatible, allowing for quicker transfer speeds. Accepts the rechargeable lithium-ion NP-FZ100 battery, which gives about 440 shots/90 minutes of recording per charge when using the viewfinder or 530 shots/100 minutes of recording when using the rear LCD.
